Abstract
This evidence based practice quality improvement project examines the effectiveness of transformational leadership practices in the acute psychiatric setting. Literature shows the psychiatric mental health setting causes extreme stress for employees. Individuals entering the acute psychiatric setting, as well as regulating bodies, count on exceptional leadership from administrators guided by the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership (Kouzes & Posner, 2012, p. 15). Fully functioning and cohesive clinical and administrative components of a healthcare organization makes a facility viable. The findings of this project identify important factors relating to transformational leadership practices and their impact among psychiatric inpatient staff and patient outcomes.
