Abstract

A team of colleagues at a state university have been funded by their state department of education to promote teacher leadership in public schools and conduct research examining the process of doing so. Since previous efforts to incentivize teacher leadership by offering an advanced professional license did not yield noticeable results, the department generously decided to fund a three-year initiative. Here, Castner discusses the Teacher Leadership Professional Learning Partnership, which invited collaboration between educators from two public school districts serving very demographically different communities in the professional learning partnership.
